Democrats used to prefer self-government in personal matters and central decision-making on economics. Lately they seem to prefer central decision making on everything. They want government to serve the disadvantaged in the name of fairness. Democrats tolerate social diversity, but work for economic equality by redistribution of income.

Mack's Translation: Democrats overstep the bounds of the Constitution, citing that it has become outdated. They support welfare and like to make it more and more available to more and more people everyday. They like to play Robin Hood, and "Steal from the Rich, and give to the Poor." Earning money is not necessity in the Democrat's society, as they are willing to hand it out in exchange for continued elections.

Independents

While there is no formula to describe every Independent, most favor selective government intervention and emphasize practical solutions to current problems. They tend to keep an open mind on new issues. Many centrists feel that government serves as a check on excessive liberty.

Mack's Translation: Independents are free thinkers. They feal current policies do not work and want to try new things. Many Independent parties are "One Issue Parties" meaning they focus on one issue, such as the environment, gun control, abortion, the national debt, ect.

Republicans

Republicans prefer self-government on economic issues, but want official standards in personal matters. They want the government to defend the community from threats to its moral fiber. Mack's Translation: Republicans don't want the government messing with your money, but they will tell you how to live. They claim they want a smaller government, but have taken no steps to begin this. They like a big military. They don't like welfare or social programs.

Libertarians

Libertarians believe in self-government of personal and economic matters. They favor a smaller federal government and states rights. Above all, Libertarians value personal freedom.

Mack's Translation: These guys are my party. The Libertarians think that any action that does not impare another persons liberty should be legal. This includes drug use, owning a weapon, all sexual positions (most of them are outlawed), ect. They do not believe in welfare. They favor capitalism to solve ecomic problems on its own. The Libertarians believe in downsizing the Federal Government to the smallest government they can possibly have.
